A new-look farm shop is open for business

A new-look farm shop is open for business following completion of the biggest refurbishment project yet undertaken by LaSalle Investment Management at Stoneleigh Park in Warwickshire.

Farmers Fayre, which specialises in local produce through its farm shop, restaurant and event catering, has moved into a new base which is more than three times the size of its previous premises on the estate.

The redundant two-storey building has been transformed by LaSalle, as part of its on-going revitalisation of Stoneleigh Park, to enable much-needed expansion of the thriving family-run business.

The move has increased its premises from 1,500 sq ft to 6,000 sq ft to house a 70-seater restaurant, 2,000 sq ft of retail space and three meeting and function rooms. Food preparation, production and storage facilities have also been brought under the same roof.

Nicola Reece, director of Farmers Fayre, said:

We’re absolutely delighted with our new home which has enabled us to expand into this amount of space whilst importantly retaining the look and feel of a farm shop with authentic and natural features. The move will allow us to take our business to another level. We’ve taken on an extra three full-time staff to join our team of around 20 based here and are extending our opening to seven days a week, which includes introducing a Sunday carvery. We’re often described as a hidden gem here and are keen to welcome people from off-site to experience our cooking and much-expanded range of produce from over 40 local suppliers including beef from our own farm in Daventry.

Features inside include a striking jam jar chandelier, five-door AGA, log burner and giant wall clock made from livestock shed numbers salvaged from the estate. Millington & Hope, which is based at Stoneleigh Park, assisted with interior design and furnishings.

The refurbishment work was carried out by Warwickshire-based JW Contracts and included cladding the building with 16 tonnes of singed larch timber to complement the rural setting.

A new pitched tile roof, with integral solar panels, was installed as part of the estate’s commitment to the environment. An electric vehicle charging point has also been fitted for the Farmers Fayre new electric delivery van and visitors to use.

This has been the biggest refurbishment project yet undertaken by LaSalle Investment Management at Stoneleigh Park and I am thrilled with what is an outstanding result. The building is striking in its design both inside and out and has generated a real buzz around the estate since work started in the spring. Its opening has been greatly anticipated. Farmers Fayre had become such a thriving hub for those working at Stoneleigh Park that its premises were too small to serve the needs on site. We hope the new home will not only benefit Stoneleigh Park but also the wider community by encouraging those off-site to visit.
